Britain is good? not always...

UNICEF just announced British children are among the worst in 21 most rich and developed countries in term of poverty, behaviour & family life.

Shocking?? Not really, kinda expecting that.

As someone who has the privilege to work closely in the community, I don't find that
shocking at all. From healthcare service point of view:

- Drunk & disorderly teenagers are seen on daily basis. 14 years old get drunk? Quite common occurrence. You won't see this in other European country.
- Smoking? I just saw a 12 year old whose mum asked me to refer to Stop Smoking clinic, he has been smoking for at least 2-3 years, about 7-8 cigarrettes/day.
- I have seen so many parents who are alcoholic, I did wonder what happened to the children? Good role model down the bin.
- Childhood obesity? Anorexia? Common in primary care.
- STD? common.btw, its nothing to do with poor education, I believed its primary cause is alcohol.Anyway, some of the Uni-educated are among the most promiscuous.

Don't even get me started on childhood obesity. I get quite angry when people feed their diabetic relatives with fizzy drinks; yeah, way to die quickly & I do give these people a stern lecture. Seriously, most of the obese children doesn't recognize common veggie like brocolli, carrot. Some of them don't even know what potato looks like.

These are some of the things that make me think = Who in their right state of mind think this is healthy??:

- Eat fish and chips everyday (where is the veggie?)
- Serve coca-cola with every single meals (way to go to developing diabetes!!!). I actually see a 60 year old diabetic mum doing this, quite shocking. And her BP is 160/100. Lucky I did ask and told her there and then, ditch the cola for good)
- Who serve their kids ice-cream/crisps/chocolates everyday?
- Why do you think your kid is fat when you serve them 3 hot chocolates (full fat milk) everyday?
- Chips are healthy (in moderation, yes it is healthy, but not when you gob a full plate of them)

Man, this makes my blood boil.
