Just finish exam

....Glad, finally finish the fourth year exam. I hope I am not going to resit, pls God let me pass. Friends say I have lost weight - guess the exam really take it all from me.

My husband get his wife back. I have been such a horrible person to him prior to exam - easily irritable, hasn't been talking to him that much cos I am just so exhausted of revising. He has been a real gem cos now we are a bit on the low side of life. (That's life innit, and who say life is fair :>)

Sexual history come up in the exam. And I realise sth, taking sexual history no longer feel embarrassed - I dont go blush or judgemental or feel anything. And I wish to maintain this attitude when I start working so I am able to talk to anyone from any walk of life. It probably go against what you believe or religious, but there are reason why people become of who they are. You just need to ask.

I remember a true story told by my consultant - around 1970s in Ireland, a young pregnant lady with red degeneration of fibroid. She has really severe tummy pain and history sound sinister. The surgeon did an emergency operation, open up her tummy and found it is red degeneration of fibroid (which you should left alone & manage with strong painkiller) and the baby. btw, she was only 20-24 weeks pregnant. Heavily bleeding during the surgery. Surgeon call Obs & Gynae Dr who happen to be Irish Catholic. The only thing can do to stop the bleeding (otherwise she gonna die from it) is either terminate the pregnancy (the pregnancy can't proceed at this point anymore anyway) or do hysterectomy to stop the bleeding. If you know, Catholic is against termination of pregnancy/abortion. So the Obs & Gynae Dr did hysterectomy instead, which is I personally think is not justified cos now you take away the chance of her, a young lady, to reproduce since you take out the whole of her womb. And you haven't got the chance to get consent for taking out her womb cause the bleeding occurred during surgery and surgeon did not expect he gonna found red degeneration of fibroid.

The best thing the dr can do is actually call someone else who is not Catholic or against abortion to carry out the termination of pregnancy. At least, she still can have children.   The case sparked a lot of controversy and a lot of ethical issues were raised and a lot was learnt from it.
